Calming shafts are used for the purpose of calming meteoric and faecal water on steep terrains with a large height difference. They are designed and constructed in such a way that the water flows into the body of the shaft after an almost tangential connection, and circulates along a semicircular trough all the way to the drain pipe located at the bottom. As a result, as the water flow in the shaft circulates, the speed decreases. Calming shafts are available in two diameters DN800 and DN1000 with the possibility of heights from 0.75 m to 3 m in height. The shafts are suitable for installation on pavement surfaces with the appropriate installation and design of the relief ring with cast iron covers.
