In Slovenia, there is a very diverse range of cleaning devices of different price and quality classes. The Prekmurje company ROTO is a pioneer in the field of wastewater treatment, since the first treatment plants were built in 1998. At that time, cleaning devices were mainly sold to Austria and Germany. When Slovenia joined the EU in 2004, the demand for products of this type also began here.

Investments in water treatment systems have been stimulated by various subsidies, as well as by increasing awareness among residents. After a few years, ROTO was no longer the only producer of small sewage treatment plants in Slovenia, as imported sewage treatment plants of different quality and price ranges began to appear. There are currently around 23 providers of sewage treatment plants and 5 manufacturers of small sewage treatment plants in Slovenia. The company ROTO is the only one that develops and manufactures all components in Slovenia, and is also the only one that offers all services such as on-site consulting, delivery with a forklift, installation, start-up, service and maintenance, as well as the supply of spare parts for 20 years after delivery. . This ranks ROTO among the leading providers of water purification systems from 2 to 2500 PE, and in its offer it also has 4 water purification technologies for various facilities such as residential buildings, settlements, tourist, business and industrial facilities. Roto own
exports products to more than 55 countries. It also has its own laboratory for the analysis of purified water and cooperates with specialized institutes and municipalities in the development of treatment plants.

The key criteria for the appropriate selection of a small sewage treatment plant are the sufficient volume of the tank, which must be at least 600 liters per person or PE. Quality materials are also important, for example the thickness of the walls
tanks, reinforcement ribs and build quality. Every treatment plant has a controller, valves and a compressor, which should not be
installed underground but in well-made external cabinets, which will extend the life of the electronic parts and allow easy access for servicing. The cleaning device should also have appropriate certificates from an accredited laboratory, which proves that it has been successfully tested in various operating conditions. As with all hardware devices, it is very important that it has well-organized service and maintenance.

Owners of new buildings in areas where there will be no public sewerage often decide on the installation of sewage treatment plants already at the stage of obtaining construction documentation. At ROTU, we advise them on the choice of size, cleaning technology and installation position. We also work with architects and designers and help with the creation of project documentation and obtaining subsidies that are tendered by municipalities. There are enough subsidies and incentives, but greater awareness is important when choosing an appropriate treatment plant, especially from the point of view of maintenance. At ROTO, we are aware that a water treatment plant is a machine that has been embedded in the ground for several decades and can only sufficiently purify water with proper maintenance. That is why even in Slovenia, as is the practice abroad, treatment plant providers should provide maintenance and service, thereby preventing pollution of the environment in the event of possible inadequate operation of treatment plants.
