Keep nature clean with FLOWER POTS from recycled packaging

On Friday, April 24, 2021, in the laboratory of the ROTO group from Murska Sobota, in cooperation with the company Aquafill, we successfully produced the first flower pot made of recycled foil by the rotomoulding process. In this way, the ROTO Group will in the future replace the primary raw material (oil) and use waste that would otherwise decompose in nature for hundreds of years.

ROTO is a leading European company in the field of polyethylene products. We make products that protect the environment, such as sewage treatment plants, rainwater collectors and oil seperators. In 2020, ROTO also set up a development laboratory, where we developed and successfully introduced into the production of flower pots made of biodegradable polymers, as well as kayaks, canoes and garden furniture made from recycled materials. We made a big development leap last week, when we were the first in the world to produce a product from extruded packaging waste after the rotomoulding process.

Cooperation with Aquafil is of strategic importance for ROTO in the use of secondary raw materials. Aquafil is the first company in the world to start collecting and recycling waste fishing nets. The partners, both members of the Association for the Chemical Industry at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, used waste in the “recycled foil pots” project, mechanically and chemically processed it and prepared new material from which they made a new product. According to the principle of eco-design, ROTO is already actively developing new products that will be available on store shelves in the autumn of 2021.

ROTO strives to develop an environmentally friendly society and entrepreneurship. It develops sustainably oriented products, introduces green technologies and has production organized in accordance with the ISO 14000 environmental standard. As the ROTO Group is aware of the importance of a circular economy based on the concept of a positive material cycle, we decided to use foil to make new products. This will help reduce waste generated in the production process and contribute to the preservation of the environment. We have also encouraged our business partners to operate in accordance with the circular economy, so we will also accept their packaging waste for secondary raw materials in the production of new garden ROTO products.
